Little River
A waterfront community at the North Carolina line, built around a historic fishing waterfront, the Intracoastal Waterway, and the northernmost ocean inlet in South Carolina.

What Little River is like.
Little River sits at the very top of the Grand Strand, where South Carolina meets North Carolina. The old waterfront is still the center of it: a working row of docks along the river with charter boats, seafood houses, and the casino boats running out to sea. Behind that, the Intracoastal Waterway threads through a stretch of golf communities and waterway neighborhoods, and the Little River Inlet gives boaters the shortest run to the Atlantic on this end of the coast.
Living here
Boating, fishing, and golf. Calabash and its seafood row are minutes across the state line, North Myrtle Beach is a short drive south, and Highway 31 puts the rest of the Strand within easy reach.
- Waterway-front homes and condominiums along the Intracoastal, plus inland golf communities
- A historic working waterfront with charter fishing fleets, seafood restaurants, and casino boats
- Little River Inlet, where the river meets the Atlantic at the state line
- Vereen Memorial Historical Gardens, and the Blue Crab Festival each May
- Most of Little River is unincorporated Horry County rather than an incorporated town, so zoning, rental rules, and services follow county rules instead of a city's.
- Waterway lots differ in dock rights and water depth. Confirm what a specific property allows before assuming boat access.
- The beach is a drive rather than a walk from most of Little River. Cherry Grove and the North Myrtle Beach accesses are the closest.
