What Longs is like.
Longs is what happens when the Grand Strand runs out of coastline and keeps going. It sits inland along Highway 9, north and west of North Myrtle Beach, and it is unincorporated: a collection of planned communities, golf neighborhoods, and older properties on acreage rather than a town with a center. The trade is straightforward. You are roughly twenty minutes from the sand, and the lot is bigger.
Living here
Space, quiet, and a short drive to everything. The beach is about twenty minutes east, North Myrtle Beach covers groceries and dining, and Highway 31 makes the run south along the Strand quick.
- Planned residential and golf communities, a good share of them newer construction
- Single-family homes on larger lots than the coastal corridor typically offers
- Long Bay Golf Club and other courses within the area
- Highway 9 and Highway 31 access, connecting to North Myrtle Beach and the rest of the Strand
- Each planned community here has its own HOA, amenities, and rules. They are not interchangeable, and dues vary widely.
- Longs is unincorporated, so county rules govern zoning, rentals, and services rather than a town government.
- Well and septic systems are still in use on some properties. Confirm water and sewer service before you assume either.
